What are your Dignity at Work and Anti-Harassment policies?
In March 2020, Riot Cabaret agreed a Dignity at Work policy and internal Code of Conduct with Equity, the performers’ trade union. In doing so, we became the first promotion to have agreed such policies with Equity from its inception.
Five months later, Equity responded to the #SpeakingOut movement by releasing its 5 Pledges for Wrestling Promotions. We commit to always abiding to every single one of these pledges. We have done since our company was founded and we will continue to do.
However, policies and pledges do not mean anything unless they are applied properly. We therefore meet with Equity several times a year to ensure the policies are being implemented to the satisfaction of the union and its members who work for us. Those working for Riot Cabaret will also have the opportunity at every show to meet with a representative from Equity in private to discuss anything and we encourage all wrestlers to seek and maintain membership of Equity. Please see our dedicated Equity page for more information.
What are your Concussion Guidelines?
The safety of our performers is always our foremost priority, both in and out of the ring. We therefore have the most comprehensive concussion protocols that we are aware of in independent wrestling.
Following consulation with wrestlers, experts in concussion and other sporting organisations, we published our Concussion Guidelines back in 2020. This document provides a comprehensive overview for everyone who works for Riot Cabaret in how to effectively recognise, manage and treat concussion.
Medics and referees on our shows also receive additional concussion recognition resources, and can stop a match and withdraw a competitor at any time if concussion is suspected.
As scientific understanding regarding effective concussion intervention continues to develop, we will continually review and update this policy in line with the best available medical expertise.
